Like many police agencies across the country, the Rochester Police Department is implementing a program equipping every patrol officer with a body worn camera. The effort started in 2014 and is now at the point where many officers have received and are using the cameras. This is a chance to speak with the Lieutenant supervising the program, to see and handle a camera, to understand the policies and procedures for the use of the camera and understand the Freedom of Information Request process regarding the recordings made by the cameras. If your work includes any sort of criminal defense or civil rights cases, you need to see this program.
