It is extremely common for attorneys to suffer mental health issues such as depression and anxiety at some time during their years of practice. The attorney grievance committee has recognized the reality of these health problems which can lead to misbehavior that can cause an attorney to lose their practice and livelihood. Respected local attorneys, Brad Kammholz and Mary Beth Feindt, will offer their personal stories of finding themselves in a "rathole" which greatly affected their lives and practice. Ms. Tomaino will discuss the relevant Rules of Professional Conduct as well as the diversion process now available to encourage lawyers to treat their mental health illnesses that directly relate to their grievance issues.
